Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I set-up The Perfect Pickin' Pouch™ for optimum use?
After loosely connecting the guitar strap and The Perfect Pickin' Pouch™ to the guitar, hold your instrument on one or the other knee, in your most comfortable sitting position. Angle the guitar so that it is most comfortable and so you can best see and reach all points of the fret board. Adjust the guitar cord so that when you stand the guitar stays in the same relative plane. Next position the cushion so that it best fills and supports the angle between your torso and the back of the instrument. Finally, adjust the Velcro straps so that the slack is taken out of them. When you stand, the instrument should rest in a position just as it did as when you were sitting down. This might take a few trial-and-error adjustments. But, once it is set, you should be able to re-attach the The Perfect Pickin' Pouch™ and guitar strap each time so that the instrument falls into the in the same position.

Q: What if my guitar doesn't have a heel strap button?
Although The Perfect Pickin' Pouch™ works best if attached to the instrument by way of the end and heel strap buttons, it can also be worn as a belt around your waist. You can simply tie a cord to both strap ends and tie the device around your waist. Even better would be to half hitch a device such as "D'Addario's simple Acoustic Guitar Strap Quick-Release System" to the ends of both The Perfect Pickin' Pouch™ straps to make for a quick connection and release.

Q: Can I fine-tune the device?
Yes, by all means. Both the web strapping and the leather tips can be carefully cut back in order to eliminate any unwanted material and to provide a more permanent set-up.

You can also remove or increase the amount of stuffing in the cushion. I have provided enough kapok filling to create the largest dimensions for the cushion. This is probably more appropriate for smaller bodied instruments such as parlor and 000 sized guitars, for example. For larger jumbos and dreadnought sized instruments, I have found that removing some of the stuffing works best as more stuffing may create too much of an angle.

Q: What if I use an internal pickup device and thus, the end pin jack doesn't easily accommodate both a guitar strap and the The Perfect Pickin' Pouch™ strap?
I have found that some (not all) end pins designed as instrument jacks tend not to provide much room to accommodate more than a thin guitar strap. This can be corrected by using a more substantial end pin. However, I have supplied the The Perfect Pickin' Pouch™ with a thin elastic cord hitched to one of the straps. The loop of this cord can be easily looped around the end pin and secured under the guitar strap.
